LiveVoice at the OMR Festival in Hamburg

The annual Online Marketing Rockstars (OMR) festival in Hamburg is one of Europe’s prime events for industries in the digital and marketing scene and one of the world’s largest events for digital marketing and technology. With over 70,000 visitors from more than 70 nationalities and 800+ speakers from all around the globe, the OMR festival, which takes place over the course of two days in May, is one of the most important places to be for anyone working in the online world.

The program at OMR is a unique blend of education and entertainment. It provides an exceptional learning environment in a professional context and simultaneously fosters an energetic atmosphere where innovative minds come together to exchange ideas and celebrate. The schedule is vast and diverse – over 240 Masterclasses take place during the event while seven stages feature speakers, ranging from pop-philosophers like Richard David Precht to global digital marketing leaders. Live Podcasts – Podstars powered by OMR – are produced and streamed, and more than 150 guided tours lead participants through the expansive event grounds, which include five expo halls and over 1,000 exhibitors.

Beyond informative content, there is also a strong entertainment component. Live concerts – featuring big names like Macklemore, Shirin David, and Tokio Hotel – take place during lunch-breaks and in the evenings, adding to the festival’s unique character. After all, we are talking about Online Marketing ROCKSTARS!

LiveVoice’s multiple roles & use cases at the OMR Festival

With so much to offer, this is the perfect venue for LiveVoice to show its versatility, which is why we have been proud partners of OMR for the past three years. LiveVoice has been used over the last years in many different ways, so here is a quick overview.

Simultaneous Interpretation at the OMR Conference Stage

Offering translation via analogue equipment would not be fitting for a digital festival. So several years ago, OMR approached us with the request of using our BYOD concept for simultaneous interpretation. In this way, international participants get the chance to listen to all talks in English, simply by using their own smartphone.

Two of our favorite interpreters, Dirk and Mark Bode, work tirelessly every year throughout the event, interpreting all kinds of talks. In their carrier, they have been the voices of renowned speakers such as Quentin Tarantino, Serena Williams and Ashton Kutcher, ensuring their messages reached the entire audience.

An international conference participant shared their experience:

“I felt so in the mood, I did not feel I missed anything from the stage because the translators were live. The people speaking on the stage were changing and the translators were changing, so I just thought I was listening to their same voice.”

But not only the attendee experience is important to us. It is key that interpreters have a great working environment and enjoy the tool they use for hours.

“It’s a really great system and I love working with it. It’s easy to understand, you don’t need a lot of technological know-how, you just open it and start speaking.”

Guided Tours

Next to simultaneous interpretation, guided tours is another main use case. At the OMR Festival, LiveVoice powered exclusive guided tours led by different social media influencers. These influencers provided a curated experience, sharing insider tips with selected groups, making their festival journey even more insightful and engaging.

Live Podcasts

One of our favorite use cases: Live Podcasts. LiveVoice enabled festival visitors to tune into live podcast sessions from the iconic Podstars’ buses. With screens outside, attendees walking by simply had to scan the LiveVoice code with their smartphone and could tune in via our app to follow the conversation.

Silent concert on mega LED wall

In 2024, yet another creative idea by the OMR crew was put in place via LiveVoice: With a huge LED wall placed outside the halls, attendees who did not make it into the hall were able to watch the concerts that took place inside – and listen with their smartphones. This setup brought a unique and immersive experience to those who didn’t manage to save a spot inside the venue.

New for OMR 2025: AI-Powered Captions

This year, LiveVoice is introducing yet another innovative feature: AI-powered captions. This enhancement ensures even greater accessibility, allowing attendees to follow along with real-time subtitles on their mobile devices, further enriching their event experience.

What the future holds…

The OMR festival is a great example of how LiveVoice showcases its versatility. One tool – so many possibilities to elevate the event experience. An easy way to make trade fairs, conferences, and festivals more engaging, more accessible, and more user-friendly.

And from our side – we are always head over heels when OMR asks us to partner up again to be a part of one of the most exciting and impactful events in the digital marketing world. We’re thrilled to be returning for a fourth time – and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
